Job summary

IBM is seeking a motivated IT Administrator intern with interest in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Network Reliability Engineering (NRE) to join our Austin team. You will gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise IT systems, virtualization, and cloud environments while contributing to automation and reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of IP and network administration protocols.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash).
• Experience with networking gear (Juniper/Arista/Cisco) is a plus.
• Team-oriented and able to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining enterprise IT systems including servers, VMs, and cloud environments.
• Monitor system performance and help identify reliability issues.
• Support automation for routine tasks using scripting.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident analysis.
• Document configurations, procedures, and reliability metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure and service delivery.
• Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network devices.
• Learn automation techniques to reduce manual tasks and improve reliability.
