Job summary

Loft Orbital, a space infrastructure company, is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to own Loft’s networks and reliability as the team scales. You’ll design and secure cloud networking, VPN/site-to-site, and segmentation across offices, ground stations, and test equipment, while defining SLOs and observability.

You will program the network as code, implement IaC, CI/CD, and GitOps, and reduce toil through automation as part of the SRE team.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years in network engineering with hands-on routing, VPN/site-to-site, segmentation, DNS and firewalling
• Hands-on Software-Defined Networking and IaC
• Public-cloud networking experience, ideally GCP
• Comfortable on Kubernetes (k8s, Docker) and occasional coding
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar) and GitOps workflow
• SRE mindset: SLOs, observability, automation to reduce toil
• Ability to debug connectivity in a complex hybrid network environment
• Degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Loft’s network architecture: cloud networking, VPN/site-to-site, segmentation, and routing across offices, ground stations, and test equipment
• Tighten network security posture: segmentation, access, and connectivity hardening
• Manage the network as code: IaC provisioning, CI/CD, and GitOps
• Define SLOs for connectivity and ground-station availability, and own observability (metrics, logs, tracing); Grafana-centric stacks a plus
• Investigate and resolve reliability issues with root-cause analysis and durable fixes; reduce toil through automation
• Contribute to the SRE team’s reliability and incident-response work, fostering a SatDevOps culture
