Job summary

Verisign Inc. is seeking an experienced SRE to join a skilled engineering and infrastructure team in Reston, VA. You will own design, deployment, security, and operation of enterprise platforms and CI/CD pipelines.

You will manage production systems, automate infrastructure, and lead incident response while ensuring SOC/SOX compliance and high reliability for the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or systems administration in enterprise environments.
• Expert-level experience with Linux/Unix systems administration in production environments.
• Hands-on experience administering CloudBe Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Jira, GitHub Enterprise, and Artifactory.
• Experience administering Nexus IQ, Xray, GHAS; strong SOC and SOX compliance understanding.
• Proven automation and infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
• Strong scripting with Python or Bash; solid networking fundamentals; container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, ELK, Nagios).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-platform production issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert in Linux systems administration, including performance tuning and hardening.
• Architect, install, configure, and maintain production and non-production systems for enterprise delivery and security platforms.
• Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines (CloudBe Jenkins and GitHub Actions) and manage integrations and credentials.
• Administer key enterprise platforms: CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub), Jira, GitHub/Enterprise, Artifactory.
• Support software supply chain security tooling: Nexus IQ, Xray, GHAS.
• Ensure platforms meet security, audit, and SOX controls; implement automation for reliability and scalability.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation; participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Maintain Kubernetes workloads; develop infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/Ansible; assist in deployments and troubleshooting.

The SREis part of a highly skilled engineering and infrastructure team responsible for the design, administration, security, and operation of Verisign'sapplication delivery and application security enterprise platforms. This role requires deep systems administration expertise combined with strong ownership of enterprise CI/CD platforms, repository management, developer productivity, and application security tooling ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert inLinux systems administration, including performance tuning, OS hardening, and advanced troubleshooting
• Architect, install, configure, and maintain production and non-production systems supporting enterprise application delivery and security platforms
• Design, maintain, and optimize enterprise CI/CD pipelines with emphasis on CloudBees Jenkins and GitHub Actions administration, automation, integrations, credential management, and platform scalability
• Administer and optimize key enterprise platforms including:
  • CI/CD platforms (CloudBees Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Work management systems (Jira)
  • Source control and collaboration tools (GitHub, GitHub Enterprise)
  • Artifact repositories (JFrog Artifactory)
• Administer and support software supply chain security and DevSecOps tooling, including:
  • Nexus IQ Firewall
  • JFrog Xray
  • GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS)
• Ensure platforms and processes meet security, audit, and compliance requirements, including SOC and SOX controls
• Design and implement automation to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Lead incident response efforts, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation
• Maintain and support Kubernetes containerized workloads where applicable
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting critical enterprise platforms

Requirements

• Proven experience withautomation and infrastructure-as-code(such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
• Strong scripting and programming skills (such as Python, Bash, or similar)
• Solid understanding ofnetworking fundamentals(TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)
• Experience operating and troubleshootingcontainer platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-platform production issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and secure CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with enterprise platform engineering supporting developer productivity and secure software delivery
• Familiarity with identity and access management systems (LDAP, SSO, RBAC models)
• Experience with private cloud or virtualization platforms (such as OpenStack, VMware, or similar)
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, patching strategies, and system hardening best practices
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environment

This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

The pay range is $135,800 - $183,800.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
