Job summary

onX is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure that enables developers to ship reliably at scale. You will manage the infrastructure platform, deployment automation, and observability through infrastructure-as-code, keeping systems reliable and performant while providing a simple path to production for dev teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, 3+ in production, strong Kubernetes and cloud skills, and hands-on Terraform/OpenTofu.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience with 3+ years in production systems.
• Strong interest and experience with Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Exposure to at least one major cloud platform.
• Ability to evaluate technologies based on merit, stability, performance, and debuggability.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL/object storage and understanding of data access patterns.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, monitor and maintain highly available systems using Terraform, GKE/Kubernetes and GCP services.
• Maintain and extend a large Terraform codebase.
• Analyze systems to improve performance, availability and cost.
• Automate manual processes to reduce toil.
• Develop and maintain integrations with monitoring/alerting systems (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Cloud Monitoring).
• Lead incident response and participate in on-call rotation for core infrastructure.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions affecting services and initiatives.
