Job summary

Etsy’s Runtime Site Reliability Engineering team is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to help build and support reliable, large-scale infrastructure for etsy.com and its apps. The role includes ownership of critical systems, an equity package, and a performance bonus.

In-office attendance is expected for Brooklyn-area candidates, with flexible work modes for others. The team aims for 99.95% uptime and emphasizes collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement while supporting developers

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of software engineering experience focusing on systems/infrastructure, network engineering, SRE, or DevOps—ideally within cloud environments.
• Hands‑on background administering and debugging Linux servers in production to maintain high availability and performance.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and VM‑based architecture designs; autoscaling and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, maintainable systems across the infrastructure stack using tools like Chef, Terraform, Go, PHP, Prometheus, and Consul.
• Support day-to-day operations of a large-scale application, including monitoring, measuring, and troubleshooting infrastructure and services.
• Automate upgrade procedures from OS to core applications and manage multiple aspects of core infrastructure for high availability.
• Lead incident resolution with a blameless, learning-focused culture and drive continuous improvement across systems.
