Role Description The Sr. Welding Specialist / Technical Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Houma, Louisiana. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and qualifying welding procedures in accordance with applicable codes and client specifications. Tasks may include performing weld evaluations, supervising or conducting test welds, interpreting metallurgical and mechanical test results, and preparing technical reports and recommendations. The specialist will support failure analyses, troubleshoot welding and materials issues, and guide process improvements for client projects. In addition, the role involves collaborating with lab personnel and other staff, advising on equipment and consumable selection, supervising CWIs and NDE technicians, and providing technical guidance and training to internal team members and clients.
Qualifications

• Relevant technical education and certification in welding technology, materials science, or a related field. An A.A.S or A.S. degree is acceptable but a B.Sc. is preferred with an AWS-CWI (minimum) or SCWI and / or CWEng (Active Status) (preferred) with a minimum of 10 years in engineering, fabrication and / or QA/QC role
• Strong technical knowledge of welding processes, process optimization detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated experience with developing / writing and qualifying welding procedures
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g, AWS, ASME, API, NAVSEA, etc.)
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel and Word)
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering requirements, metallurgy, and nondestructive testing
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident (green card holder)
• Competence in reading technical drawings and performing dimensional and visual inspections.
• Effective communication skills for preparing clear technical reports and consulting with clients.
• Prior experience in a metallurgical lab, testing facility, or industrial welding environment (preferred)
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
