The Sr. Welding Specialist (CWI or CWEng) will develop, review, and qualify welding procedures, interpret codes, perform metallurgical evaluations, and prepare WPSs and technical reports on site in Houma, LA. Strong writing, safety, and collaborative skills are essential.

Formación

• Active status for SCWI/CWI (Sr. or CWEng) or equivalent credential is REQUIRED.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident authorized to work in the U.S. is REQUIRED.
• Relevant technical degree or equivalent combination of education and extensive fabrication/manufacturing experience.
• Strong practical and theoretical welding know-how, including monitoring welding parameters.
• Solid knowledge of materials behavior, metallurgy, and welding for structural use.
• Experience with welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, ABS Rules, Military Standards) and welding procedure qualification development/consulting.
• Ability to write clear technical reports and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
• Attention to detail, safety commitment, and ability to work in laboratory and shop environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsabilidades

Role Description

The Sr. Welding Specialist (CWI or CWEng) / Technical Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Houma, LA. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and qualifying welding procedures across multiple processes. Day-to-day tasks include, interpreting codes and standards, conducting metallurgical evaluations, and preparing welding procedure specifications (WPSs), technical reports and documentation. The specialist will collaborate closely with clients to troubleshoot welding issues, perform root cause and failure analyses, and recommend process improvements. Additional responsibilities include monitoring welding and recording parameters, performing laboratory testing, mentoring in-house personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements, and supporting the continuous enhancement of laboratory methods and certification practices.

Qualifications

• Active status for SCWI or CWI (Sr. or Certified Welding Inspector) or CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer) credential, or equivalent professional certification. (REQUIRED)
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident authorized to work in the U.S. (REQUIRED)
• Relevant technical degree or equivalent combination of education and extensive fabrication and manufacturing industry experience.
• Candidates should possess strong practical and theoretical skills in Welding and Arc Welding, including monitoring welding parameters.
• Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Materials behavior, metallurgy, and material selection for welded structures.
• Experience with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API, ABS Rules, Military Standards) and developing or consulting on welding procedure specification qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear technical reports, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work collaboratively in a laboratory and shop environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word.
