Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits and tuition reimbursement.

Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services Company, is seeking a Senior Web/Mobile Developer to support a federal modernization initiative for the Department of the Interior (DOI).

This role is focused entirely on hands‑on application delivery, writing high‑quality code to build responsive web applications and cross‑platform mobile experiences. We are looking for a senior‑level engineer who can seamlessly span across the front‑end user experience and middle‑tier application logic. Operating within a Microsoft Azure and Power Platform ecosystem, you will build modern interfaces, integrate native device capabilities, and consume backend APIs that connect users directly to complex data and AI tools.

This position will be part of a team supporting a federal client with a business and IT modernization project.

Key Responsibilities:
Web & Mobile Application Development:
  • Develop and deploy responsive web applications and cross‑platform mobile‑friendly interfaces.
  • Write clean, well‑tested, and maintainable code using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) or Power Apps Component Framework (PCF).
  • Implement native mobile features such as offline data caching, camera integration, and geolocation services for field‑ready DOI applications.
API & Backend Integration:
  • Integrate front‑end experiences seamlessly with backend databases (Azure SQL), cloud services, and custom AI/ML model endpoints.
  • Design and consume secure RESTful APIs ensuring high performance and data integrity between systems.
  • Collaborate closely with data developers to ensure smooth data flows and optimize application loading times.
UI Optimization & Compliance:
  • Translate Figma or UI prototypes into polished, high‑fidelity production environments.
  • Ensure all code and interfaces strictly comply with Section 508 accessibility guidelines for federal software systems.
  • Conduct performance profiling, optimization, and cross‑browser/cross‑device troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in software engineering, with at least 5 years dedicated to web and mobile‑responsive application development.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Core Software Stack:
  • Expert‑level mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern framework architectures.
Integration Expertise:
  • Proven experience building applications that interact heavily with Microsoft Azure services and consuming REST APIs.
Low‑Code Extension:
  • Experience extending low‑code architectures (Power Apps Canvas/Model‑Driven) through custom code and custom connectors.
Section 508:
  • Demonstrated experience developing applications that comply with federal accessibility standards.
Security Requirement:
  • Ability to clear a federal background investigation to obtain a DOI Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using hybrid mobile app frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter) or developing Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).
  • Previous experience supporting a Department of the Interior (DOI) bureau or tracking field‑collected asset data.
  • Certification in Microsoft Power Platform Developer or Azure Developer Associate.
