Job summary

This opportunity entails being responsible for water/wastewater/utilities drafting and CAD deliverables for water, wastewater, and utility clients. Work shall be primarily completed in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and other similar drafting platforms. Assists the project management team in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches. Also responsible for gathering engineering or operational data from a variety of sources to aid drafting and design.

What You'll Do:
  1. Verify the accuracy of drawings, ensure compatibility across disciplines, and check detail and quantity calculations. Calculate design data, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, reports, etc.
  2. Assist in preparing engineering studies and evaluations involved in project development from initial concept to design stage, with support from the project engineer/architect.
  3. Attend project and pre-construction meetings, providing input to ensure policies, procedures, and specifications are followed.
  4. Resolve technical design problems, which may include performing field investigations, inspections, detailed design work, and data analysis.
  5. Maintain complex project plans, develop documentation, prepare project management reports, and monitor progress towards goals.
  6. Recommend process improvements for project delivery at the office level.
  7. Calculate quantities and perform engineering-related computations.
  8. Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff, including planning for staff reporting, performance reviews, and succession planning. Coordinate schedules and approve timecards.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 6 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related with 8 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
  • Effective collaboration skills with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Proficiency in CADD design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI ArcGIS, Revit, or similar.
  • Knowledge of survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to engineering sub-types.
What We Prefer:
  • Experience working with diverse teams of technicians, designers, engineers, and management to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Over 10 years of experience on water/wastewater/utilities projects.
  • Interest in developing, training, and mentoring others in industry best practices in design and drafting.
