Job summary

FedEx is seeking an interview-position fleet technician to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and documentation for the company’s vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. The role requires automotive diagnostic skills, welding basics, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Candidates should have three years of fleet experience, relevant certifications, and familiarity with major diagnostic software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Automotive Service Technician or Truck/Coach Technician certification/license required.
• Must possess a valid G license with clean driving record.
• Minimum of three years fleet experience; road/ground support equipment experience is a plus.
• Electrical troubleshooting using diagnostic testing equipment and gauges for gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic equipment.
• Basic welding knowledge and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, quality preventive maintenance for the Federal Express fleet and ground support equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and document work performed.
• Operate diagnostic software and use hand tools to service vehicles.
• Ensure safety procedures and tool inventories are kept up to date.

This is an interview position.
Provides timely, quality, cost effective maintenance for Federal Express vehicle fleet and ground support equipment which requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and documentation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician certification/license

Must possess a valid G license and have a good driving record

Three (3) years of fleet experience

Fleet maintenance experience an asset

Electronic troubleshooting skills

Must have working knowledge of use and operation of all automotive diagnostic testing equipment, gauges and tools associated with trouble shooting and repairs of gasoline, diesel and hydraulic powered equipment

Must have basic knowledge of welding and safety procedures

Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components up to 70 Ibs

Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components above 70 Ibs with the help of appropriate lifting mechanical assistance

For Ramp positions, successful placement in the position is contingent on the applicant passing the Transport Canada, RCMP, and CSIS assessment, which is based on five (5) years verifiable background information. Must own a complete set of automotive or truck hand tools including metric sizes and storage cabinets for same
