Job description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Project Kuiper’s success requires leaders who are owners, and who possess the entrepreneurial spirit needed to create new products. Leaders will solve complex problems and get things done. As a Sr. UX Researcher, you will be a valuable member of Project Kuiper’s eCommerce Experiences team, and will conduct agile research to evaluate and define the user journey and experiences that span multiple product interfaces and device form factors. You will generate insights into customer needs that inform design decisions to create experiences that delight our customers across the globe.

You should have broad skills in user research and design research methods, with a thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative research concepts. The role requires excellent multitasking abilities and skill in managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality research standards. Most importantly, you'll need to excel at translating uncertainty and ambiguity into actionable recommendations in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate will be curious, creative, highly analytical and be able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team made up of product and program managers, software and hardware engineers, business development and marketing managers, and industrial designers.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
- Define and execute (and, as necessary, invent) research methods appropriate to the questions at hand, including but not limited to field research, surveys, lab studies, remote testing, and A-B tests.
- Provide focused, insightful, and actionable findings by quickly and thoroughly analyzing a wide range of primary and secondary data types.
- Synthesize findings from research workstreams to identify patterns and opportunities across the customer experience
- Work with design, product management, engineering, and marketing partners to develop innovative end-to-end solutions that address top outcomes. Iteratively design and test these solutions until outcomes are achieved or hypotheses are proven wrong.
- Advance the development of insight-based knowledge management frameworks used to drive decision-making and prioritization of investments.
- Manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment- 6+ years of hands-on experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) with demonstrated impact
- Bachelor's degree in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field
- A strong research portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
- Experience conducting both strategic and tactical research studies
- Experience with synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data and proven track record of influencing product decisions through research insights- MS in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology
- Expertise in zero to one and generative research methodologies
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- Ability to meet ambitious deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule, including quickly turning around study plans and reports
- Demonstrated thought-leadership with a passion for translating data into design
- Experience conducting global research studies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
