Senior Utility Scale Development Associate
Position: Full‑time, permanent, start date as soon as possible.
The Senior Utility Scale Development Associate is responsible for initiating, developing, and acquiring utility‑scale Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage projects in the US and Canada, primarily in the ERCOT, SPP, and MISO markets.
Responsibilities
- Support greenfield development of utility‑scale projects, including site due diligence, land control agreements, environmental and permitting, interconnection, engineering & pre‑construction, energy yield, tax abatements, power marketing, and tax equity financing.
- Assist senior developers on specific project workstreams as required.
- Identify best locations in collaboration with RWE’s commercial and technical teams based on financial attractiveness.
- Create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Conduct due diligence of project acquisitions with RWE’s M&A team.
- Prepare management presentations and support internal approval processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, business/economics, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project development or related power‑sector roles (e.g., market analysis, transmission & interconnection, PPA marketing, electrical engineering, environmental analysis, M&A).
- Structured and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem‑solving, interpersonal, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Proven track record managing complex infrastructure projects.
- Deep knowledge of energy markets, prospecting, real‑estate development, interconnection, permitting, environmental compliance, project engineering, and construction management.
- Exceptional project‑management skills.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn about the company and the renewables space.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
