The Senior Unified Communications Engineer shall be responsible to provide advanced expertise to design, deploy, and maintain the enterprise-wide unified communication solutions. This role will require a deep understanding of advanced unified communication technologies, including voice, video, data, and collaboration technologies, with a strong emphasis on system architecture, troubleshooting, and security. The Senior Unified Communications Engineer will serve as a technical mentor to junior staff and collaborate closely with stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives. Additionally, the role will include developing and enforcing best practices for system management and contributing to strategic IT initiatives. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in a field of study relevant to the current position is preferred. Minimum 4-8 years of experience in a similar or related role required; however, candidates with an equivalent combination of experience, education, certification, and demonstrated proficiency in a similar or related role will also be considered.
Two or more current, industry standard certifications preferred ( CompTIA ITF+ CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ , Cisco Certified Support Technician, Cisco Certified Specialist – Collaboration, Cisco Certified Network Associate, etc.).
· Advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux distributions).
· Comprehensive knowledge of VoIP, instant messaging, presence, mobility, contact center solutions, and other advanced UC technologies· In-depth knowledge of video conferencing technologies, including codecs, endpoints (desktops, room systems), and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Cisco Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
· Deep understanding of VoIP architectures, including session initiation protocol (SIP), codecs, Quality of Service (QoS), and voice gateways.
· Advanced proficiency with unified communication platforms such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Presence, Unity, Expressway, and Emergency Responder.
· Understanding of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud computing concepts.
· Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and system management.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex system issues effectively.
· Excellent leadership abilities with strong oral and written communication skills for collaboration across teams and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
· Ability to develop long-term strategies for system architecture and technology integration.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and evolving business requirements.
· Effective oral and written communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.
