Job Overview

DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its E&S Property Division. The role reports to the AVP Underwriting, E&S Property or above and is responsible for shaping the underwriting framework, managing a portfolio of complex risks, and expanding broker relationships. The position is a full‑time, exempt role with a salary range of $110,000.00 – $150,000.00, based in Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, or New York, NY, with a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Travel up to 25% is required.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex insurance risks within granted authorities, identifying and analyzing risk exposures, loss frequency and severity, and desired coverage.
• Ensure submissions meet underwriting standards for the program and are profitable.
• Curate a portfolio of business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and prescribed pricing tools, exercising discretion over portfolio composition.
• Identify changes in account or market risk exposures and loss trends to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with the manager to define and execute team production goals.
• Review referrals from Underwriters and Associate Underwriters.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members; may manage 1–2 direct reports.
• Achieve annual new and renewal business goals by meeting premium income targets, quote numbers, hit ratios, and retentions.
• Foster relationships with key producers through travel and event attendance.
• Gather and compile information required to quote and/or bind accounts.
• Demonstrate advanced understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk characteristics.
• Stay current on market dynamics, the competitive landscape, and product differences; communicate insights to the broader group.
• Negotiate with producers within delegated authority and underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, or a related field (preferred).
• 5–8 years of relevant underwriting experience.
• Professional certifications such as CPCU, AU, or similar (preferred).
• In‑depth knowledge of technical underwriting principles and risk assessment.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
• Proven ability to manage and build broker and client relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to handle complex risks with sound judgment.
• Highly self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Capacity to remain stationary approximately 50% of the time with occasional movement.
• Travel availability up to 25% for client meetings, conferences, or industry events.
