Job summary

Sompo International, based in San Francisco, seeks a Senior Underwriter for the Commercial Management Liability team. You will underwrite D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL lines, build broker relationships, and develop a profitable portfolio in the SF/Pacific Northwest region.

The role requires 3+ years of underwriting experience with 5+ years preferred, and a strong marketing and analytical mindset. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite in accordance with guidelines and authority.

Our Sompo Commercial Management Liability team offers diverse capabilities targeted at providing Directors & Officers, Employment Practices, Fiduciary, and Commercial Crime Liability coverages for publicly-traded and privately-held companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations. What you'll be doing:

• Develop and maintain a profitable and highly penetrated Management Liability portfolio in the San Francisco/Pacific Northwest region.
• Identify and build a pipeline of new business opportunities both through new client prospects and existing clients.
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan for each assigned producer/territory; including tactics for individual broker success.
• Underwrite in accordance with underwriting guidelines and individual authority granted by management.
• Work collaboratively with actuarial and claims in the pricing and underwriting of risks.
• Monitor portfolio retention, growth and profitability.
• Create marketing materials to support new production initiatives.
• Participate in national and regional industry events.
• Monitor industry trends through trusted news sources.
• Uphold a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry.

What you'll bring:

• 3+ years of underwriting experience, 5+ years of underwriting/insurance experience preferred
• Management liability underwriting background, including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL products
• Experience in producing and underwriting all sizes of accounts with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers.
• Strong analytical, marketing and communication skills
• Established relationships with brokers and customers
• Strong attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Salary Range: $125,000 – $175,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
