Job summary

Sompo in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Underwriter for the Commercial Management Liability team. You will underwrite and grow a profitable Management Liability book across the San Francisco/Pacific Northwest region, working with brokers and clients on D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL coverages.

You'll collaborate with actuarial and claims, monitor portfolio performance, and develop marketing plans to win new business.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of underwriting experience; 5+ years in underwriting/insurance preferred.
• Management liability underwriting background including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL.
• Experience underwriting all sizes of accounts with large brokerages and wholesalers.
• Strong analytical, marketing, and communication skills.
• Established relationships with brokers and customers.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop and maintain a profitable and highly penetrated Management Liability portfolio in the San Francisco/Pacific Northwest region.
• Identify and build a pipeline of new business opportunities both through new client prospects and existing clients.
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan for each assigned producer/territory; including tactics for individual broker success.
• Underwrite in accordance with underwriting guidelines and individual authority granted by management.
• Work collaboratively with actuarial and claims in the pricing and underwriting of risks.
• Monitor portfolio retention, growth and profitability.
• Create marketing materials to support new production initiatives.
• Participate in national and regional industry events.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of underwriting experience, 5+ years of underwriting/insurance experience preferred
• Management liability underwriting background, including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL products
• Experience in producing and underwriting all sizes of accounts with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers.
• Strong analytical, marketing and communication skills
• Established relationships with brokers and customers
• Strong attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Salary Range: $125,000 – $175,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
