Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. UC Network Engineer to join a team supporting mission-critical network, infrastructure, and collaboration environments within the Department of Defense. This role requires an active Secret Clearance and will be performed in a hybrid environment located at Scott Air Force Base, IL (4 days onsite per week).

You will lead complex network and collaboration initiatives, provide architectural guidance, and deliver automation and modernization for enterprise technology.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• 8+ years of experience in network or related engineering roles.
• Expert-level networking knowledge with routing, switching, security, and data center technologies.
• Experience developing automation and orchestration solutions using APIs, scripting, and infrastructure automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, version control systems, and CI/CD methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer delivery engagements and provide escalation support for large-scale infrastructure, network, and collaboration solutions.
• Design, implement, integrate, optimize, and support enterprise networking, security, data center, virtualization, and collaboration technologies.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex routing, switching, security, data center, and unified communications environments.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to customer leadership by providing technical guidance, architecture recommendations, and strategic modernization planning.
• Design and implement firewall policies, high-availability configurations, and secure connectivity solutions supporting voice, video, messaging, and enterprise applications.
• Support hyper-converged and virtualized infrastructure environments hosting critical business and collaboration services.
• Support Linux and Windows Server environments that provide services for enterprise applications, monitoring platforms, and infrastructure management tools.
• Participate in crisis management activities, proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could impact operations or service delivery.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in network engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure consulting, or enterprise technology support environments.
• Expert-level networking knowledge with advanced certifications preferred.
• Extensive experience with enterprise routing, switching, security, and data center technologies.
• Experience developing automation and orchestration solutions using APIs, scripting, and infrastructure automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, version control systems, and CI/CD methodologies.
• Experience administering and supporting Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Strong background working with voice protocols, PSTN connectivity, and enterprise collaboration deployments.

Compensation for the Sr. UC Network Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000/year
