Job summary

General Atomics in San Diego, CA seeks a Sr. Trade Compliance Integrator to join its International Trade Compliance group. The role supports export licensing for U.S. and international programs, advising on compliance and helping shape global business strategies.

Hybrid work in San Diego or other GA locations with travel. The candidate will bring deep ITAR/EAR expertise, DoD clearance eligibility, and strong collaboration with stakeholders across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Business Administration, Engineering, International Relations or related field with fifteen or more years progressively complex experience with a Bachelor's or thirteen or more years progressive experience with a Masters.
• Extensive understanding of import/export administration and licensing principles, theories, practices, and concepts; leadership skills to manage milestones.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
• Expertise in ITAR, EAR, US Customs regulations and HTS; ability to apply export control laws and manage a dynamic workload.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Familiarity with non-U.S. trade compliance requirements preferred.
• Customer-focused with analytical, verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and guide stakeholders.

We have an exciting opportunity for Sr. Trade Compliance Integrator to join the company’s International Trade Compliance (ITC) group located in San Diego (Torrey Pines), CA.

This can be a hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, or at another GA location with requested occasional travel to San Diego, CA for meetings and team functions.

This new role will enable and shape global business strategies, by providing critical trade compliance guidance and obtaining effective export authorizations. The successful candidate will have deep export controls subject matter expertise, strong experience in both defense and commercial export licensing, and excellent skills as a business and government liaison.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting to the GA Director of International Trade Compliance, the incumbent will craft and obtain U.S. State Department and Commerce Department export authorizations (and potentially other licenses) to facilitate international business objectives and technology collaborations.
• Supports one or more lines of business and/or international programs as a key member of integrated project teams, understanding and shaping program requirements and objectives while providing trade compliance guidance.
• Interfaces closely with stakeholders at program reviews and business development meetings, for complete program awareness leading to development and implementation of effective trade control authorization strategies.
• Provides advice to stakeholders in identifying potential trade compliance issues and developing solutions to effectively mitigate business risk.
• Provides subject matter expertise and support to related trade compliance processes, such as export control jurisdiction and classification determinations, authorization use and proviso management, pre-release reviews of technical information, and engagement reviews for foreign person visits and international meetings.
• Manages authorization activity within the relevant OCR EASE software modules.
• Displays political acumen and strong collaboration skills to bring together multiple stakeholder functions in support of export licensing and trade compliance efforts.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Engineering, International Relations or related field and fifteen or more years progressively complex experience with a Bachelors or thirteen or more years progressive experience with a Masters, in import/export administration. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
• Must demonstrate an extensive understanding and application of import/export administration and licensing principles, theories, practices, and concepts; and leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
• Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts, processes, techniques, and standards; resolve a variety of extremely complex administrative and technical matters; and demonstrate excellent working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), US Customs regulations and Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS).
• Demonstrate a detailed and current expertise in application of U.S. export control laws and regulations, trade compliance best practices, and the ability to manage a dynamic workload while meeting milestones.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Familiarity with non-U.S. trade compliance requirements preferred.

Salary range: 116,480 - 208,505
