Job summary

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. We are seeking a hands‑on Sr. Test Development Engineer to build and validate test systems for manufacturing hardware and software.

You will lead cross‑functional test campaigns, drive testability improvements, and collaborate with design and production teams across locations. You will use MATLAB and Python for data analysis, develop test procedures, and travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing hardware test systems, including test software and supporting hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development test system design and validation
  • Lead software/hardware integration testing
  • Lead review and analysis on data using MATLAB, Python, or similar
  • Support and organize the release of the software and hardware system documents through gate reviews
  • Investigate and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production builds
  • Write status and/or build reports for cross‑functional review
  • Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns
  • Identify and analyze the cross‑functional tradeoffs between different test designs, including impact on performance, schedule, and cost at scale
  • Drive cross‑functional schedules, test requirements, specifications and limits with the hardware development team
  • Work concurrently with the design engineers to collect design for testability (DFT) feedback throughout the design process
  • Coordinate with production to define test strategy, and the implementation and optimization of test setups and processes
  • Develop procedures and troubleshooting guides to support production
  • Interested and able to travel domestically and internationally

We're looking for a hands‑on Test Development Engineer with a background in hardware/software test development for manufacturing.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved before.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with version control systems
  • Experience delivering products to volume production
  • Experience with testing optical communication systems
  • Experience collaborating with hardware design teams on design for testability and design for manufacturing
  • Experience designing and qualifying test fixtures, automated test equipment, and test software for production lines

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
