Job summary

Amazon Leo is building a fast, reliable satellite internet network to serve customers beyond current connectivity. This role supports testing hardware and software in a high-growth manufacturing environment, contributing to the creation of test racks, ground support equipment, and wire harnesses.

You will write code to meet high standards, troubleshoot issues on the shop floor, and collaborate with design, manufacturing, dynamics, thermal, and electrical engineering teams to keep builds on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language.
  • 4+ years of test automation frameworks and tools building experience.
  • Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems.
  • 4+ years working as a test engineer or equivalent experience.

Export Control Requirement

Key job responsibilities

Troubleshoot test hardware and software issues to support manufacturing needs



  • Design, build, and document novel test systems including test racks, ground support equipment, and wire harnesses

  • Author code that meets Amazon's high bar



A day in the life

Your responsibilities will include identifying and resolving test issues to keep builds on schedule, as well as driving efficiency improvements through tooling, automation, and design or process changes. You will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, dynamics, thermal, test and electrical engineering teams to achieve these objectives.



  • 40% on the shop floor, working with manufacturing engineers to troubleshoot test system issues and unblock production

  • 40% independent development work improving on existing test systems, developing novel test equipment, or creating detailed design and maintenance documentation

  • 20% meeting settings, collaborating with others on topics such as new design introductions, production process change management, production solution finding reviews, etc.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language

  • 4+ years of test automation frameworks and tools building experience

  • Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems

  • 4+ years working as a test engineer or equivalent experience



Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability

  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies

  • 3+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
