Together, we can reimagine the world of work and, with our bold partners, make the impossible possible.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong technical background and proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs. This role will focus on driving execution of Magic Leap Perception Projects, including computer vision, XR (extended reality), and algorithm-driven innovations that power next-generation user experiences.

You’ll work closely with engineering, QA, research and external partners across the globe to manage roadmaps, define milestones, identify risks, and ensure on-time delivery of high-impact features. Your ability to support teams globally, across the EU/US time zones is required. If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology and want to shape the future of human-computer interaction, this role is for you.

Location: This position requires being fully on-site at our Zurich, Switzerland facility, to ensure seamless collaboration and hands-on support for daily operations. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to launch within the Perception and XR domains.
  • Translate complex technical and research objectives into clear, executable project plans.
  • Drive execution and foster accountability across diverse software teams.
  • Partner closely with engineering leads, research scientists, product managers, and UX teams to define scope, prioritize tasks, and eliminate roadblocks.
  • Monitor progress, proactively mitigate risks, and deliver clear, consistent updates to stakeholders.
  • Align teams on goals, timelines, and deliverables to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to scale technical program management best practices across the organization.

The experience you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in program and technical project management, supporting software engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including key milestones and checkpoints.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, frameworks, and terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently implement best practices while aligning with broader program goals.
  • Strong skills in risk identification, mitigation, and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Comfortable collaborating with both research-driven and product-focused teams.
  • Skilled in managing complex internal and external team dependencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

It’s exciting if you also have

  • Familiarity with XR technologies (AR/VR/MR) and their development lifecycles.
  • Experience managing programs involving computer vision, perception systems, or algorithm development.
  • Background in machine learning, deep learning, or real-time sensor fusion.
  • Experience in R&D or early-stage innovation environments.
  • Proficiency with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to support teams across U.S. time zones as needed.
