Location: Preference will be given to those who can be on-site in our corporate headquarters in Allen, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) but will also consider remote candidates, with regular travel to headquarters in Texas.

Job Description

We're seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our Virtual Power Plant platform and internal product tooling. You'll work across cloud software, embedded systems, APIs, and real-time data to connect distributed energy resources into scalable, reliable grid services. This is a high-ownership, high impact role at the intersection of product, marketing and engineering.

You'll have autonomy to shape foundational architecture and tools while working alongside a highly committed hardware and firmware engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product roadmap for Sol-Ark's VPP stack and internal software tools that support control, telemetry, orchestration and grid integrations.
  • Align product strategy with financial goals, supporting revenue growth, cost optimization, and market share expansion across our product portfolio.
  • Translate complex technical requirements into clear specs, working closely with software engineering, cloud architects, and hardware teams to build resilient scalable systems.
  • Build APIs and data products that enable energy orchestration, remote commissioning, performance monitoring, and automated control of distributed assets.
  • Colloborate across functions, from customer success and installers to compliance and operations, to ensure tools serve real workflows and create measurable value.
  • Lead internal tool development, enabling faster onboarding, diagnosis, and fleet-wide analytics with a focus on reliability and user-centric design.
  • Lead customer discovery with aggregators, utilities, energy developers and policy groups, to deeply understand workflows, pain points, and value creation to shape product decisions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience with 3+ years in energy systems, DERs, or grid interactive software.
  • Strong technical acumen, comfortable working with APIs, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and software engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with IoT, MQTT, telemetry, IEE2030.5, Open ADR and distributed control systems for DERs, inverters, or battery platforms.
  • Experience designing internal tools or developer platforms used to monitor and manage complex field assets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, you are able to convey technical vision to both internal teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in launching products in regulated environments, ideally in energy, utilities or grid services.
  • Customer obsession with an instinct for simplifying complex systems and delivering intuitive tools.
  • Proficiency with modern product management and prototyping tools such as Figma, Notion, Mixpanel, Productboard, Cursor, Tailwind, and similar platforms.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with energy market participation, including demand response, wholesale, or ancillary services.
  • Experience building software tools for installers, field technicians, or fleet operators.
  • Background in data analytics, Python, SQL, or managing data infrastructure.
  • Startup or small team experience and thrive in high-ownership environments.
  • Passion for climate tech, clean energy, or electrification.
