Job description

The Sr. Talent Management Specialist is a senior individual contributor who owns and drives the talent agenda for Amazon Health Services (AHS). This role operates as a strategic co-pilot to business and PXT leaders - embedded in the business, translating organizational priorities into actionable talent strategies, and owning core people processes end-to-end. You are the go-to advisor leaders call when they need to make better decisions about who to grow, promote, develop, and deploy. AHS is reimagining healthcare for millions of customers — making it radically more accessible, affordable, and simple at a scale few organizations can match. Behind that ambition is a leadership team that needs to be bold, resilient, and ready to transform an entire industry. That's where you come in. Our line Talent Management team works with business leaders to diagnose talent needs, shape succession plans, build leadership pipelines, and run the processes that help great people grow into their next role. We're looking for someone who operates with high judgment in ambiguous situations, uses data to tell a compelling story about where talent gaps exist, and independently designs and pilots new practices that move the needle for their customer organizations. You won't be running programs from a distance - you'll be in the room with senior leaders, shaping how they think about their people and holding them accountable to building a strong talent bench.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Talent Strategy & Customer Partnership: Own the talent strategy for your customer organizations. Partner directly with business leaders and HRBPs to identify critical roles, assess talent gaps, and build long-term plans to strengthen the leadership pipeline.
  2. Core Talent Processes: Execute and own core talent processes for your customer set, including Org Planning, Leadership Forecasting, Leadership Promotions, Performance Calibration, Succession Planning, and integration of IXT insights into the overall talent strategy.
  3. Data-Driven Insights: Translate data into talent insights and proposed solutions that drive business decisions. Conduct needs analysis incorporating predictive modelling, cross-org trends, and external benchmarks. Own TM data management beyond core programs in your business line.
  4. Projects & Delivery: Lead and deliver cross-group projects; serve as owner or co-owner of group-level talent initiatives. Contribute to WWAS-level programs. Manage implementation activities, develop processes, documentation, and communications for rollout and ongoing management.
  5. Doc Writing & Strategy: Write and captain strategy documents, wireframes, and program proposals. Contribute to MBR/QBR and OP1 planning with PXT partners.
  6. Change Management: Design, develop, and own change management plans for new TM initiatives to inform and enable PXT and business leaders. Drive adoption across your customer organizations.
  7. Org Design & Structural Effectiveness: Consult and guide business leaders and PXT on org health assessments, structural inefficiencies, and future-state operating models aligned to business strategy. Provide expertise on span of control optimization, layer reduction, and role architecture. Leverage org data and benchmarks to build scenario models and inform design decisions
  8. Mechanisms & Scalability: Independently pilot new practices and mechanisms with customers, measure output, and document learnings for broader adoption across the region or business group. Create process improvement mechanisms including automation and standardization.
  9. Coaching & Enablement: Provide skill-building and guidance to customer groups on TM processes and tools. Act as a buddy and onboarding resource for new TM leads or specialists joining the team.
