Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a senior electrical systems engineer for a satellite program, reporting to the Systems Engineering Department and overseeing electrical integration, harnessing, powering, and testing of spaceflight hardware. You will ensure flawless interfaces, manage EICDs, and guide the spacecraft from component boards to a launch-ready integrated system.

The role demands strong systems engineering expertise, lifecycle discipline, and active Secu rity Clearance.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years experience typical.
• Experience across the system development lifecycle and requirements allocation.
• Experience developing systems architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Drive proactive electrical architecture decisions across the program.
• Lead engineering team focused on cohesive electrical system and subsystem design.
• Advise SV Lead and Chief Engineer on system-level impacts and risks related to electrical subsystems.
• Manage electrical interfaces: EICDs, pinout charts, wiring schematics across all subsystems.
• Review and analyze customer specification documents.
• Coordinate with customer, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Responsible for electrical interface management and signal channelization.
• Develop and manage electrical system definition documentation and diagrams.
• Lead test definition and planning for electrical systems.
• Provide electrical nonconformance support to AI&T and ensure closure.

About the Role

Functionally reporting to the Systems Engineering Department and deployed directly to a satellite program, you will oversee the electrical integration, harnessing, powering, and testing of spaceflight hardware. You will ensure that power, data, and RF subsystems interface flawlessly, manage the Electrical Interface Control Documents (EICDs), and guide the spacecraft safely from a collection of boards to a fully functional, integrated system ready for launch.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +8 yrs experience).
• Typically 10+ years of related experience (or Masters + 8 years of experience).
• Demonstrated expertise in Systems Engineering principles and practices, including a comprehensive understanding of the systems development lifecycle.
• Progressive experience across the system development lifecycle, including requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation.
• Progressive experience developing systems architecture and performing systems integration, verification, and validation (V&V) activities.
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with technical and specialty subject matter expert engineers to drive systems engineering products.
• An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools and frameworks, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab, and SysML.
• Strong understanding of spacecraft systems, including hardware and software subsystems and components.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies including risk management and technical performance tracking.
• Strong understanding of technical baseline and configuration management.
• Proven experience in leading projects and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
• Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
