Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Section Responsible Systems Engineer to lead requirements, verification, and program tasks onsite. You will mentor team members and collaborate with the Chief Engineer and IPTLs to ensure rigorous testing and validation across subsystems.

The role requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, with preferred DoD-focused background and experience in DOORS, Cameo, and CPDM. U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance are required.

Senior Systems Engineer – Section Responsible Systems Engineer

Position: Senior Systems Engineer – Section Responsible Systems Engineer, located in Tucson, AZ. This role is fully onsite and requires an active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret). U.S. citizenship is required.

What You Will Do
  • Lead effort to update and maintain all system and subsystem level requirements specifications.
  • Serve as systems technical lead for verification and validation efforts, ensuring all requirements are assessed during Verification and Qualification Testing.
  • Collaborate closely with Systems and Hardware IPTLs and Chief Engineer on a variety of program technical tasks.
  • Lead Systems Verification Reviews with the Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, and Integrated Product Team Leadership.
  • Be the knowledgeable, go‑to Systems Engineer for the program.
  • Help onboard new team members, mentoring and guiding them using core Systems Engineering skills.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • Typical Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: systems software, systems firmware, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, and/or systems test.
  • Experience in test planning, verification of system requirements, and/or system qualification.
Qualifications – Prefer
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience in the Defense Industry, particularly with military systems, tactics, techniques, procedures, and DoD customer infrastructure.
  • Experience using Agile framework development methods/processes.
  • Customer focus and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with performance analysis.
  • Experience with DOORS, Cameo, and/or cPDM.
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or Cost Account Management (CAM) certification.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $86,800 - $165,200 USD. The range is a good faith estimate for all experience levels.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits depend on the business unit and collective‑bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs, dependent on position level and coverage by a collective‑bargaining agreement.

This role is U.S.-based. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the posting date.
