Job summary

Sabre Systems, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the DIARCM program at NAS Patuxent River, Lexington Park, MD. The role focuses on the research, development, integration, test, acquisition, and lifecycle support of electronic systems providing aircrew with situational awareness for safety-of-flight.

You will apply engineering methods across multi-disciplinary teams, support readiness and sustainment, and travel as needed for coordination with partner commands and sponsors.

Qualifications

• MS or MA in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college
• Substitution option: BS/BA with 4 years of relevant experience
• At least 10 years of recent and relevant engineering experience, 3 of which with DoD systems

• Direct experience in defense, aerospace, or government programs
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills for working with engineers, logisticians, and multi-disciplinary teams

Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer (Senior) to support the Advanced Tactical Aircraft Protection Systems Program Office (PMA-272) at NAS Patuxent River in Lexington Park, MD. PMA-272 manages the development, acquisition and sustainment of operational advances in aircraft survivability equipment. This position will support the Distributed Aperture Infrared Countermeasures (DIARCM) aircraft protection systems for the Assault Integrated Product Team (IPT). The DAIRCM missile-defense system is for helicopters and other aircraft to defeat vehicle-launched infrared-guided missiles and man-portable air-defense systems. It also can detect laser-guided threats and hostile fires near helicopters. This is an in-person on-site position at NAS Patuxent River and not eligible for telework. Anticipated Travel requirements are 1 week per every 2 months. Level of effort 100% (1,920 hours).

• Perform work related to research, development, integration, test, acquisition, and life-cycle support of electronic systems that provide the aircrew with the situational awareness needed for safety-of-flight.
• Performs programmatic or technical knowledge identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems
• Guides the engineering development of modern complex systems
• Employs systems engineering methods and tools in the development of systems.
• Advises on, administers, or performs professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with engineering projects, systems, processes, equipment, devices, material or methods
• Effectively and efficiently operate and communicate across multi-level security environments.
• Demonstrates competence and creativity in developing new concepts and new uses of material/hardware/software/tactics.
• Develops or tests new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features.
• Provides technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development.
• Summarizing data, observations, and findings to support the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Gather, analyze, document, and manage technical and performance requirements from all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Review life cycle management documentation for DIARCM, ensuring supportability from design through disposal.
• Identify, assess, and document, technical, programmatic, and DIARCM readiness and sustainment risks.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, program offices, contractors, and external agencies.
• Prepare clear, concise, technical documents, including gap analyses, business case analyses, plans, and regular status reports/briefings.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in DAIRCM sustainment and support the implementation of best practices.
• Travel to other commands, universities, contractor plants, and sponsor headquarters to discuss and resolve difficult problems, assist in determining the direction of the project, and provide advice on new and emerging technologies

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university
• ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience
• At least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems. Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering results in support of multi-level security projects.
• Direct experience in defense, aerospace, or government programmatic/technical settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills for working with engineers, logisticians, and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient in the MS Office 365 suite
• Security Clearance Requirements: Active Top Secret with SCI and SAP eligibility

Compensation Statement

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $148,330.00 - $164,420.00
