The role focuses on developing product and feature requirements, performing systems and performance analysis, and leading cross-functional initiatives with R&D, engineering, and validation teams. The ideal candidate has 12+ years of wireless experience, deep knowledge of 5G concepts such as Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, and 3GPP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE/CS; advanced degree beneficial.
  • 12+ years of wireless industry experience required.
  • Expertise in 5G concepts and air interface technologies.
  • Experience with 3GPP Rel-16/17 features.
  • Strong knowledge of PHY/MAC/RLC/RRC/PDCP layers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into system requirements.
  • Perform product and feature performance analysis.
  • Analyze 4G/5G Wireless Call Protocols and troubleshoot issues.

The Manager, Strategy - Digital Appliances (DA) will support the Digital Appliance (DA) team, with critical market and business insights to Top Level Executives using analytics, ensures cross-functional alignment of goals and execution, and helps teams drive strategic initiatives forward. As part of the Analytics organization, the team utilizes data and strategy to develop & deploy short term and long-term category & channel strategies.

Role and Responsibilities

Samsung Electronics America (SEA) is seeking an ambitious Sr. Systems Engineer, 5G Air Interface Call Processing to join our Networks Engineering organization. The Sr. Engineer is responsible for the development of product requirements, feature requirements, systems and performance analysis, conduct deep-dive customer sessions and new technology introduction of virtualized networks. The incumbent will be seen as a subject matter expert representing a multi-functional team of R&D, Systems engineering, and product validation to introduce Samsung products to Wireless Carriers.

  • Responsible for analyzing the customer requirements, converting them into system requirements and capturing of detail design for the development team.
  • Aid in product & feature performance analysis, evaluation of new product & SW releases.
  • Perform detailed analysis of 4G/5G Wireless Call Protocols. Responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting the issues.
  • Provide expert technical support in the pre-sales process and creates compelling technical and commercial solutions in order to help achieve the assigned sales goals and business objectives.
  • Translate and communicate complex technical design considerations between the Samsung sales team and carriers’ network business
  • Educate our customers on Samsung’s new products and services both individually and in a team environment. Ensures that customer commitments are achieved according to plan.
  • Work closely with various support organizations, logistics, and cross- functional teams from SEA and Samsung Headquarters to achieve successful new product roll-outs and developments.
  • Lead and mentor the team as a systems architect.
  • Ability to travel sporadically during the project.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE/CS; Advanced degree is beneficial
  • Minimum of 12+ years of industry experience in wireless is required
  • Must have understanding on 5G concepts such as Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking & co-existence, 5G Numerologies etc.
  • Experience with 3GPP Rel-16/17 features
  • Strong knowledge in 5G and 4G air interface and call processing technologies and network architecture specifically focused on Radio Access Network
  • Good understanding of overall Wireless systems with emphasis on PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC and PDCP layers
  • Experience with protocol analyzers, test tools such as XCAL, QXDM, Wireshark, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
  • Understanding of 3GPP systems: Core and RAN networks
  • Understanding of HW as well as SW architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with system engineering activities such as feature requirements identification, feature description documentation, parameter optimization, performance analysis, test strategy creation, problem troubleshooting is desirable
  • Experience with software development is beneficial
