Software Engineer – Tinker AFB, Oklahoma

HII – Mission Technologies is looking for a Software Engineer to support a program located at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. The role requires knowledge of software engineering to design, develop, test, evaluate, implement, maintain, and administer new and/or existing software systems. The Engineer will apply an understanding of aeronautical vehicle systems and/or airborne or related ground systems avionics Operational Flight Program capabilities to support core engineering tasks related to software engineering.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of DoD contractor software deliveries for aircraft and test equipment; audit contractors for software configuration and control measures and verify appropriate quality accreditation.
• Employ Software Configuration Management process and certification.
• Apply knowledge of systems acquisition, subsystem level hardware and software integration, requirements analysis and allocation, computer system architecture, and testing and evaluation.
• Review, develop, and update applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements.
• Support the development of the software development strategy and software development plan (SDP).
• Perform software engineering work in support of acquisition, development, or sustainment of software for weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
• Develop and review the overall system design baseline architecture and interoperability requirements.
• Assist in translating user requirements into system requirements used to design, develop, test, and evaluate software.
• Provide systems/subsystems integration support for acquisition, development, and verification of systems, software, and equipment.
• Evaluate systems test plans and participate in the conduct of system, subsystem, and component testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in an engineering field; OR 7 years relevant experience with a Master’s; OR 4 years relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in an engineering field.
• Minimum 12 months of experience in an SAP environment within the last five years.
• Experience with Computer Program Identification Numbers (CPIN) tracking and control.
• In‑depth experience with software design, integration, configuration, test/evaluation, and certification.
• Experience assessing and auditing DoD contractors for software configuration and control measures adequacy and verification of appropriate quality accreditation.
• TS/SCI clearance required to start.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience evaluating systems test plans and participating in system, subsystem, and component testing.
• Experience with Air Force Technical Orders.
• Ability to create and present Microsoft PowerPoint presentations without impediments.
• Ability to read and utilize Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to write research papers in Microsoft Word with clear and concise concepts.
• Ability to read and understand schedules developed in Microsoft Project.
• Clear communication skills for briefing small groups of military, contract, and civilian personnel.

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to meet the demands of the Software Engineer family.
