Job summary

Nova Biomedical in Westbrook, Maine, seeks a Laboratory Chemist I to support Quality Assurance within the QMS. You will perform tests and calibrations at stages of production according to ISO 17025 and 17034 requirements, ensuring product quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025, ISO 17034, ISO 9001 and GLP/GMP practices.

Responsibilities

  • Test, calibrate, and inspect instrumentation and test kits across production stages per approved procedures and ISO requirements.
  • Manufacture liquid test consumables and certified reference materials per GLP/GMP.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely to ensure accurate results.
  • Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Identify issues affecting test performance and notify relevant personnel.
  • Write reports and present findings clearly; perform qualifications, verifications and validations.

Responsibilities

Perform testing calibration and inspection of instrumentation and test kits at defined manufacturing stages in accordance with approved procedures and ISO 17025ISO 17034 requirements Maintain rigorous attention to detail meet output schedules and use the Enterprise Resource Planning ERP systemManufacture liquid test consumables and certified reference materials in accordance with GLPGMP requirements to support production needsOperate and maintain highly sensitive laboratory equipment safely to ensure accurate results including pH meters analytical and microanalytical balances density meters pipettes spectrophotometers plate readers automated liquid handlers and other assigned instrumentsCollaborate effectively both independently and as part of a team partnering cross functionally with departments such as Research & Development as neededIdentify issues that may affect test performance and notify relevant personnelMaintain professional clear communication with coworkersWrite reports and present findings in a clear and concise manner Perform qualifications experiments verifications validations and other duties as assigned

Experience Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 ISO 17034 ISO 9001 and GLP GMP cGMP
  • 0 5 years of laboratory experience
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment PPE
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail organization skills and ability to follow documented processes
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Able to stand or sit for extended periods Manual dexterity required for handling laboratory equipment and instrumentation Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds Comfort with performing repetitive tasks Willingness to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals or biological materials Able to use required personal protective equipment PPE Occasional bending reaching or movement within lab environment
