Job summary

RENK America is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer in Muskegon, MI to design and integrate advanced powertrain systems for defense, marine and industry sectors. The role includes requirements definition, architecture definition, and subsystem integration across ME, EE, and software teams.

The Senior Systems Engineer will lead cross-functional projects, develop verification plans, and ensure data-driven compliance with customer specifications. Domestic/international travel <10% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical BS degree.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent and a minimum of 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple project tasks to meet established deadlines.
  • Must be capable of obtaining a DOD security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and abroad (less than 10%).

Responsibilities

  • Guide product engineering in the design, development, and implementation of system architecture and solutions.
  • Allocate and derive requirements from vehicle, engine, and transmission system levels down to the component level.
  • Provide input to product specifications and design verification test plans to ensure data captures requirements compliance.
  • Technical lead of cross-functional matrixed project team for engineering projects through the Systems Requirements Review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure system integration.
  • Conduct system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal operations.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Author engineering technical reports for submission to the customer.

Description

The Systems Engineer is an experienced level position that is responsible for the design, including requirements definition and analysis, system architecture definition and assessment, subsystem specification, design reviews, subsystem acceptance and system integration, test plans/procedures and test for military powertrain solutions. The system may be new development or a reliability improvement. The system may be comprised of multiple subsystems, may be a subsystem in a larger system or an enhancement of an existing system or subsystem. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply basic engineering/technical principles, theories and concepts using standard techniques, processes, practices or specific methods.

Essential Functions
  • Guide product engineering in the design, development, and implementation of system architecture and solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure system integration.
  • Conduct system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal operations.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Author engineering technical reports for submission to the customer.

Level/pay for this position will be commensurate with education/experience.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical BS degree with a minimum of 6 years engineering experience.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent and a minimum of 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple project tasks to meet established deadlines.
  • Must be capable of obtaining a DOD security clearance.
  • Good written and verbal communications.
  • Must be available for domestic and foreign travel (less than 10%).
  • Must be able to move freely within the manufacturing and lab environment with reasonable accommodation.
  • Experience in Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety to support the development, integration, and lifecycle management of new system designs preferred.
  • Expert product knowledge of transmissions, engines, and powerpack integration into tracked vehicles preferred.
  • An understanding of working with MBSE models in Dassault Cameo preferred.
  • Experience in developing products for the defense industry preferred.
