Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive enterprise infrastructure engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading complex technical initiatives
  • Proven experience working within large enterprise Windows infrastructure environments
  • Enterprise vulnerability remediation and management (Qualys preferred)
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Azure administration and hybrid cloud environments
  • VMware vSphere (v7/v8 preferred); VxRail experience a plus
  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, VLANs, and firewalls
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) preferred
  • Qualys Vulnerability Management

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise vulnerability remediation efforts across Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results (Qualys or similar) and determine appropriate remediation strategies.
  • Prioritize remediation activities based on business risk, exploitability, and operational impact.
  • Coordinate remediation activities across Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams.
  • Perform operating system patching, application upgrades, firmware updates, and configuration changes.
  • Validate remediation activities through vulnerability rescans and security verification.
  • Develop remediation standards, documentation, and repeatable processes to improve future remediation efforts.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues spanning servers, virtualization, networking, and cloud platforms.
  • Support Windows Server lifecycle management, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure services.
  • Assist with infrastructure modernization and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to improve remediation efficiency.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and process improvements.
  • Administer Microsoft Azure resources and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Support VMware infrastructure, including performance optimization and lifecycle management.
  • Assist with cloud migration, optimization, and infrastructure enhancement projects.
  • Partner with Information Security to improve the organization's security posture.
  • Implement security hardening recommendations and infrastructure best practices.
  • Support compliance initiatives by ensuring infrastructure remains secure, supported, and properly configured.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of remediation activities, infrastructure changes, operational procedures, and technical standards.
  • Provide clear implementation plans, risk assessments, and change documentation.
  • As business priorities require, assist with enterprise infrastructure projects, disaster recovery improvements, server lifecycle management, Azure engineering, VMware administration, storage administration, backup and recovery, performance optimization, technical troubleshooting, and operational support during maintenance windows.

Insight Global is assisting a client in finding a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer for a six-month contract engagement to support our Infrastructure team. This role is primarily focused on accelerating enterprise-wide vulnerability remediation efforts across Windows servers, virtualization platforms, cloud infrastructure, and supporting technologies. The successful candidate will partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to assess, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities while maintaining platform stability and minimizing business disruption. Although vulnerability remediation will be the primary focus, this role will also contribute to other senior-level infrastructure initiatives as business priorities dictate, including system administration, cloud engineering, automation, infrastructure modernization, and operational support. This is an execution-focused position intended for an experienced engineer capable of quickly understanding complex enterprise environments and delivering measurable results with minimal oversight.

Vulnerability Remediation
