Job summary

Koam Engineering Systems, Inc. (KES Inc.) located in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator with a strong background in network engineering, VMware, and security to support DoD facilities. The role requires U.S. citizenship and DoD Top-Secret eligibility, with travel as needed.

The candidate will manage daily network operations, document system designs, and work with diverse teams to implement secure, scalable infrastructure. Prior cloud architecture experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree required in a relevant engineering/computer field.
• IAT Level II Certifications and Security+ required.
• DoD security clearance/eligibility at Top-Secret level required.
• Citizenship in the U.S. required.
• Must be able to travel.
• Position located at a U.S. Government Facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational requirements of computer network systems, including workstations, file servers, and VMs.
• Install and manage network accounts and network security.
• Document local system design and maintain technical documentation.
• Set up and maintain VMware environments (VMware/VSphere).
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and deploy security tools (firewalls, antivirus, IDS).
• Manage storage solutions and disaster recovery; configure networks and VSAN storage.
• Create, manage, and deploy containers; troubleshoot vCenter, ESXi, NSX, and related components.
• Collaborate with team and customers to deliver secure, reliable network services.

Position Summary

The Sr Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstation, file servers, virtual machines.

Responsibilities

• Experience as a Sr Network Engineer
• Installation of the following:
• Network accounts.
• Network security.
• Interface and updates
• Ability to document the local system design.
• VMWare setup and maintenance.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.
• Experience with storage solutions, networking configurations and disaster recovery.
• Ability to create, manage, and deploy containers.
• Troubleshooting skills for vCenter, ESXI hosts, NSX, Networking and VSAN storage.
• Capacity planning for virtual hosts and VMs.
• Experience with creating technical documentation of How-To-Guides and maintaining OneNote/SharePoint for team members.
• Strong understanding of virtual machines within architecture diagrams and how to articulate what data will be going across certain networks.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Education / Licensure / Credentials

Required:

• Bachelor level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems
• IAT Level II Certifications
• SEC+
• VMWare/vSphere
• This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Top-Secret level. Individuals must be able to maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
• Job Located at a U.S. Government Facility

Preferred:

• Windows Server
• Familiarity with Navy Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and eMASS
• Contributes to development of Cybersecurity policies/SOPs (System Configuration, Incident Response, Disaster Recovery, Contingency/Business Continuity, etc.)

Experience

Required:

• 5 years’ professional experience in systems administration
• 3 years of network engineering experience with 2 years of cloud architecture.
• Ability to operate effectively in a team environment as well as independently and provide direct interface with customers.
