FIXX Energy in Smyrna, Tennessee, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer / Microsoft Cloud Architect to design, implement, and manage enterprise IT infrastructure across Azure and AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud tenant setup, security, AD/Entra ID, and Exchange, with a strategic mindset for scalable, secure solutions.

The role is onsite at our Smyrna facility with occasional travel and a competitive package including insurance, retirement options, and PTO.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure roles.
• Proven experience with: Azure tenant setup and administration.
• Experience with AWS account/tenant setup and core services.
• AD, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration.
• Microsoft Exchange (Online and Hybrid) administration.
• Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, or cloud VMs).
• Strong understanding of IAM, MFA, RBAC and security practices.
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, VNet/VPC).
• Infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell preferred).

Responsibilities

• Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Design, deploy, and manage Azure and AWS environments; tenant setup and configuration.
• Architect secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions.
• Lead cloud migration efforts from on-premises to Azure/AWS.
• Configure and manage networking, storage, compute, and identity services in cloud environments.
• Infrastructure & Systems Management: Manage and support virtual server environments (on-prem and cloud).
• AD/Entra ID administration and identity governance.
• Ensure IAM, MFA, RBAC, and Defender policies are in place.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer / Microsoft Cloud Architect to design, implement, and manage enterprise IT infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud tenant setup, system security, virtualization, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Microsoft Exchange, along with a strategic mindset for building scalable and secure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Architecture & Deployment
• Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure and AWS environments, including new tenant setup and configuration
• Architect secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions
• Lead cloud migration efforts from on premises to Azure/AWS
• Configure and manage networking, storage, compute, and identity services in cloud environments
• Infrastructure & Systems Management
• Manage and support virtual server environments (on-prem and cloud-based)
• Administer and maintain Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
• Ensure proper identity and access management (IAM) policies and governance
• Oversee and maintain Microsoft Exchange (Online and/or Hybrid environments)
• Security & Compliance
• Implement and maintain system security best practices across cloud and on-prem systems
• Monitor systems for vulnerabilities and coordinate patching and remediation
• Configure security tools such as Microsoft Defender, conditional access policies, and MFA
• Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory security standards
• Operations & Support
• Provide tier-3 support for complex infrastructure and cloud-related issues
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, scripting, or cloud-native tools
• Develop and maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
