Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal System Administrator in Marlborough, MA to provide IT systems administration for Windows and Red Hat Linux in a heterogeneous environment. You will ensure 24x7 operations, apply fundamentals of DNS, DHCP, and AD, and troubleshoot complex issues with hardware and OS integration.

The role requires a university degree or equivalent plus 2+ years of relevant experience, a current U.S.

• Experience with help‑desk operations, ticket troubleshooting and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
• Understand and apply Windows Server or Linux fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
• Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including integration of hardware and operating systems.
• Work with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
• Provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures; perform other assigned tasks.
• Ensure systems are operational 24×7, including occasional work beyond standard hours.
• Travel up to 10% of the year to other U.S. domestic locations as needed.
• Full‑time, 100% onsite position.

Role Type: Onsite

Security Clearance: Current U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Must obtain DoDD 8140/8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within a reasonable amount of time.

Salary Range: 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience as a technical SME or primary point of contact for patching, vulnerability remediation, or compliance initiatives.
• Experience with VMware virtualization technologies (ESXi, vCenter, VM lifecycle management, host upgrades).
• Experience securing system configurations, implementing STIG/EVAL STIG, vulnerability remediation, and compliance; familiar with cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, SCAP, Splunk, STIG Viewer.
• Experience with MECM/SCCM, PXE boot services, OS imaging, and automated software deployment frameworks.
• Experience with enterprise Windows services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity integration.
