Sr. SW Engineer - CSMS/OCPP SME (Bentonville, AR)

Background: This will be a long-term consultant role for 12-24+ months (with potential to convert to FTE). The candidate will serve as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the EV team's CSMS development. The role involves hiring and training two junior-mid team members.

Terms:

• CSMS: "Charging Station Management Systems"
• OCPP: "Open Charge Point Protocol"

Interview Process: 2 Rounds (possible 3rd)

Location: Must sit in or relocate to Bentonville (hybrid model) from day 1

Must Have Skills:

• Senior level (10+ years) experience with Java, Python, or Golang frameworks
• 3+ years of experience in designing and developing CSMS platforms for EV Charging stations
• Experience with CSMS frameworks supporting OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1
• Understanding of EV vehicle and charger station protocols & guidelines

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams globally on CSMS development
• Engage with product and architecture teams to share core capabilities and roadmap
• Build, test, deploy CSMS solutions at scale supporting Walmart's EV strategy
• Mentor team members, ensuring quality and speed in solution delivery
• Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns, and configuration tools for faster development
• Proactively resolve technical challenges
• Diagnose issues between CSMS and EV charger hardware

What You'll Bring:

• 10+ years in designing and developing scalable applications
• 3+ years in CSMS platform development for EV charging stations
• Deep understanding of EV protocols, standards, and guidelines
• Strong hands-on skills for prototyping innovative solutions
• Experience with CSMS frameworks supporting OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1
• Experience with smart charging, auto-charge, ISO 15118, V2G/V2X charging
• OCPP certification experience
• Understanding of EV system performance benchmarks and hardware/software aspects of EV charging
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and propose cost-effective solutions
• Exposure to open-source CSMS frameworks
