Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. is seeking a sustainability professional to support environmental initiatives, manage data, and contribute to emissions analysis across scopes 1-3.

You will build tools, dashboards, and datasets to inform leadership decisions while coordinating with operations, fleet, finance, and procurement teams. Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Business, Engineering, Public Policy, Communications or other business-related field or equivalent work experience.
At least 3 years of experience working directly in sustainability or related fields.

Strong modeling, data management, and analytical skills.
Strong requirements gathering and project management skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to respond to urgency and manage ambiguity.

Responsibilities

Support environmental operations initiatives and projects including tracking, timeline coordination, data collection, analysis and cost/benefit measurement.
Develop and maintain analytical tools, models, and datasets to manage projects and synthesize survey data and emissions analysis.
Support enterprise-wide carbon accounting and emissions analysis across Scope 1, 2, and key Scope 3 categories per GHG Protocol.
Collect, validate, and manage environmental compliance and sustainability data; perform QA/QC and maintain audit-ready documentation.
Maintain emission factors, assumptions, and calculation methodologies for continuous improvement of data processes.
Prepare dashboards, analyses, and visualizations translating data into clear insights for stakeholders and leadership.
Coordinate fuel spill response and remediation with regulators and track incidents and costs for trend analysis.
Monitor regulatory changes at federal, state, and local levels affecting Sunbelt facilities.
Coordinate with cross-functional partners to gather inputs and support sustainability programs and reporting.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities

Support environmental operations initiatives and projects (environmental compliance, waste management, emissions reductions, etc.) by assisting with project tracking, timeline coordination, data collection, analysis and measurement of cost and benefits.
Develop and maintain analytical tools, models, and datasets to manage projects effectively. This may include synthesizing and interpreting survey data, evaluating emissions, compliance and waste reduction opportunities, and creating compelling storytelling.
Support enterprise-wide carbon accounting and emissions analysis across Scope 1, 2, and key Scope 3 categories in alignment with GHG Protocol, contributing to internal tracking and external disclosures (GRI, TCFD, CDP, EcoVadis, S&P).
Collect, validate, and manage environmental compliance, sustainability, utility (energy/waste/water) data across a large, distributed portfolio, performing QA/QC, reconciliations, and maintaining documentation to ensure data accuracy and audit readiness.
Maintain and update assumptions, emissions factors, and calculation methodologies, supporting continuous improvement of sustainability and environmental compliance data processes as standards and regulatory expectations evolve.
Prepare dashboards, analyses, and visualizations that translate sustainability data into clear, decision-useful insights for internal stakeholders and leadership review.
Coordinate fuel spill response and remediation efforts, ensuring swift response and adherence to environmental protocols, managing coordination with Local and State regulators where applicable, and tracking incidents, corrective actions, and associated costs to identify trends and prevention opportunities.
Monitor changes in the Federal, State, and Local environmental regulatory landscape relevant to Sunbelt facilities, maintaining a database of applicable compliance topics and assessing operational implications.
Coordinate with cross-functional partners (operations, fleet, procurement, finance, etc.) to gather inputs, resolve data gaps, and support execution of sustainability programs and reporting requirements.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Business, Engineering, Public Policy, Communications or other business-related field or equivalent work experience.
At least 3 years of experience working directly in sustainability or related fields.

Physical Demands

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. Base Pay Range: $85,680.00 - 117,810.00
