The University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician to join their dynamic perioperative services team. The Surgical Technician works in partnership with a surgical nurse to support Same Day Surgery operating rooms, main operating rooms, night call, weekends and holidays.
This position is eligible for our outstanding benefits package from day one of employment. The Senior Surgical Technician will work 12-hour daytime shifts and may be required to provide coverage on evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
In combination with a surgical nurse, the Surgical Technician performs a wide range of duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. Duties include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing education and training to new staff. The technician will support the surgical team in Same Day Surgery operating rooms and the main operating room and will participate in night call and other coverage as required. The position may float to the Main OR and take call as needed. Other related tasks will be performed as required.
Annual Full Pay Range: $79,991 – $99,451 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
Hourly Equivalent: $38.31 – $47.63.
