Job summary

Barnes Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks a mid shift senior supply distribution technician to support operating room supply needs and returns processing. Duties include picking supplies and instruments for OR cases and putting away returned items.

Schedule is mid shift, 11am to 7:30pm, Monday through Friday. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 2–5 years of experience, with preferred 5–10 years and some supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2–5 years of relevant supply chain experience.
• Preferred 5–10 years experience.
• Experience with lean supply principles and inventory systems.
• Supervisor experience: none (no supervising required)

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily management of medical materials across departments.
• Maintain organized supply rooms and bins; assist with recalls.
• Review par levels and coordinate with leadership for improvements.
• Receive and stock items; process RTVs and vendor returns.
• Ensure safety and compliance with standards, and conduct housekeeping.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Oversees daily management of medical material (supplies, equipment and linen) for multiple departments throughout the hospital and/or network. Primary duties will include supply room and warehouse cleaning and organization, department customer service, reviewing item par levels and usage with department leadership, bin optimization, material ordering, receiving and stocking, assisting with manufacturer recall notifications/usage investigations. Aids in training, mentoring and developing new Supply Technicians. Performs other duties as assigned. Senior Supply Techs should be able to perform all core competencies as well as assist in training, mentoring and development of Supply Techs.

Responsibilities

• Able to apply lean supply philosophy, performs basic analytics using Microsoft products and other tools available through supply chain management systems.
• Performs material receiving functions verifying correct items, quantities, processing receipts in the inventory management computer system, process RTVs, tagging/labeling and staging items for delivery.
• Review reports, collaborate with department staff to adjust par levels, coordinate opportunities for improvement, implement and maintain standardized community supply model, assist w/JIT room audits.
• Processes stock/non-stock orders in the inventory management systems, coordinates with procurement to resolve order issues, RTVs, discrepancies, match exceptions, recalls and returns to vendor.
• Provides daily oversight of material functions while ensuring a safety focused environment complying with BJC, OSHA, Joint Commission standards and performs housekeeping functions in supply rooms.
