The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for driving standard Sales, Operations and Planning (S&OP), supply chain strategies, cost‑containment, material, and supplier performance across Ducommun.

It began as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and contributed to the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early pioneers such as Lindbergh, Douglas, and Lockheed. Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. The Huntsville, AR facility manufactures state‑of‑the‑art circuit boards for aerospace and defense.

Responsibilities
  • Supply Chain Strategy Management
    • Ensure supply‑chain processes deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction.
    • Investigate and implement supply‑chain trends and solutions.
    • Lead supplier development, program buying strategy, and negotiation of terms and conditions.
    • Manage direct and indirect supplier engagement and internal functional teams.
  • Supplier and Material Management
    • Acquire materials and services at the lowest total cost.
    • Select, evaluate, and manage suppliers.
    • Manage key metrics such as purchase price variance, supplier performance, material on‑time delivery and quality, and inventory turns.
  • S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning)
    • Participate in S&OP meetings, program/production rundown reviews, and mitigation planning.
    • Build and execute recurring S&OP standard work across strategic business units.
    • Coordinate all facets of the S&OP process to meet Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Targets to Improve (TTI).
  • Inventory Management and Delivery Performance
    • Improve days sales inventory level and resolve delayed shipments and component shortages.
  • New Product Support and Introduction
    • Support program management for cost, delivery, and quality of new program launches.
    • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams for NPI launches.
  • ITAR Compliance
    • Ensure ITAR compliance and control through secured correspondence and approved portals.
  • Fiscal Management
    • Generate cost, quality and timing targets for new component launches.
    • Manage capital tooling, expense budget, and material costs to support AOP and Long Range Plan (LRP).
  • Internal Communication and Collaboration
    • Promote company core values and the Ducommun Way methodology.
    • Collaborate with SBU and operations leadership to assess plans and apply business improvement methodologies.
  • Policy, Procedure and Process Administration
    • Develop and improve supply‑chain management systems and processes.
    • Provide policy guidance and standard work policies to staff.
  • Organizational Development
    • Supervise, select, train, develop, and evaluate the supply‑chain team.
    • Mentor staff and support career development planning.
  • Performance Tracking and Measurement
    • Report on core performance metrics and define additional measurements aligned to initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Promote lean methodologies across all processes and standard work.
    • Implement standard work and processes across responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Strong cross‑functional teamwork and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Highly motivated, able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in material, inventory, and production control processes.
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience in functions such as Sales/Customer Service, Supply Chain, or Procurement.
  • Strong analytical thinking for forward planning decisions.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and database/query capability.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Experience in lean methodology and application to supply‑chain processes.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of supply‑chain or related experience, including significant leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role with direct personnel management.
  • Minimum 3 years of ERP system experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of prior S&OP process experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.
  • ISM or APICS certification preferred.
  • CPM, CSM or CPSM preferred.
  • Aerospace or electronic component manufacturing experience desired.
