Job summary

Global Connect Technologies is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality activities for cast and machined components, driving APQP, PPAP and Engineering Change Management at supplier locations.

The role provides hands-on technical support to suppliers to identify root causes, resolve quality issues and improve process capability, while supporting New Product Development, product launches and ramp-up, audits, CAPA, containment and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7-10+ years of supplier quality or related experience.
  • Experience with casting and machining suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of aluminum casting processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and drive independent solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage supplier quality activities for cast and machined components.
  • Drive APQP, PPAP, and Engineering Change Management at supplier locations.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to suppliers to identify root causes and resolve quality issues.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD), product launches, and ramp-up activities.
  • Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and quality system evaluations.
  • Drive CAPA and ensure timely resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as technical interface between suppliers, manufacturing, engineering and quality teams.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement strategies at supplier facilities.
  • Support containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness.

Job description

  • Lead and manage supplier quality activities for cast and machined components.
  • Drive APQP, PPAP, and Engineering Change Management activities at supplier locations.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to suppliers to identify root causes, resolve quality issues, and improve process capability.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD), product launches, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and quality system evaluations.
  • Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and ensure timely and sustainable resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the technical interface between suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Develop and implement effective quality improvement strategies at supplier facilities.
  • Support containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness.

Required Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience with casting manufacturing processes, including:
  • Sand Casting
  • Other high-pressure casting processes
  • Strong knowledge of aluminum casting processes and defect identification.
  • Experience with machining of engineered components.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and process controls.
  • Proven experience in Supplier Quality Engineering/Management.
  • Strong knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies, root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and 8D methodologies.
  • Ability to identify practical, shop-floor-level solutions and work directly with supplier manufacturing teams.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and manufacturing best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, operations, or quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience working with casting and machining suppliers.
  • Strong experience with aluminum casting processes is highly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and drive solutions independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
