Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer role at Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG.
Position Summary
At Rolls-Royce, sustainability in drive and energy solutions is both a challenge and an opportunity. Targets include Net Zero by 2050 and a CO2 emissions reduction of 35% by 2030 (from 2019 levels) within Power Systems (mtu).
Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality of procurement and supply of materials and products related to diesel engine manufacturing and development.
- Work with suppliers to define quality requirements and standards, including inspection, verification, qualification, and statistical process control methods.
- Provide technical guidance to suppliers toward achieving part certification compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Develop and prioritize an auditing schedule to ensure suppliers are regularly audited to meet ISO-9001, process control capabilities, and quality standards.
- Conduct supplier audits to determine compliance with safety, emission, and control characteristics.
- Track and analyze failure trends, identify issues, drive root cause analysis, and communicate high-priority issues to management.
- Coordinate qualification testing for operation and performance of equipment, engine components and systems, with minimal guidance.
- Collaborate with purchasing on new source development within a commodity team environment.
- Write and review technical quality documents, plans and procedures; maintain QA programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and mentor colleagues to improve staff competence; stay informed on specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
- Write and distribute quality data and reports; promote a culture of compliance with Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
- Perform special projects as required.
Basic Requirements
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials or Metallurgy Engineering and 5 years of experience in quality, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; or 9 years of relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel to supplier and customer sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface at all levels.
- Experience with engines, engine components, and foundry processes; strong knowledge of statistical process control.
- Knowledge of GD&T and related gauges; knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with PC and MS Office; certified quality engineer; Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt; Lead Auditor certification.
Location and Compensation
Location: Mankato, MN
Pay Range: $90,985 - $136,477 annually
