Job summary

A leading technology company based in New York is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to collaborate with suppliers and improve product reliability through quality engineering methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, over 4 years of relevant experience, and be experienced in electronic components and assemblies. Job description

We are looking for an exceptional Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), experienced in Electronic assemblies, PCBA, and Electronic components, with a strong desire to learn and grow with an innovative company. The SQE will develop new suppliers and improve existing supplier performance in support of MKS global commodity sourcing strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative international environment navigating multiple technologies, systems, processes, organizations, sites, cultures and practices to understand & validate issues and facilitate solutions. The Supplier Quality Engineer's primary purpose is to enhance supplier partnerships while influencing Quality improvement through the utilization of quality engineering methodologies, systems, and practices.

How you will achieve this
  • Collaborate directly with PCBA, Electronic component, and Contract Manufacturing suppliers, as well as MKS Design Engineering to resolve design issues that result in risk to the reliability or quality of MKS products
  • Identify and implement effective process control systems to support the development, qualification, and on‑going manufacturing of products to meet or exceed MKS requirements
  • Take a leadership role on championing departmental or cross‑functional engineering and sourcing initiatives to improve reliability and/or cost reduction
  • Effectively serve as a quality liaison between suppliers and MKS engineers, commodity managers and operational buyers to improve awareness, visibility, and communication on quality initiatives that support departmental, functional, tactical and corporate quality goals and priorities
  • Develop and engage suppliers in the areas of Six Sigma methods, value stream mapping, 5‑S, Kanban and other MKS business system tools for preventative action, corrective action, and continuous improvement
  • Identify, evaluate, & qualify world‑class suppliers in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and champion the continual improvement of MKS Suppliers
What you will bring to the team
  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with printed circuit board manufacturing and related processes including mechanical box build types of assemblies. Experience with SMT assembly and common related components such as IC's, diodes, resistors, capacitors, magnetics, MOSFET, hybrid assemblies and various mechanical components, 4+ years of SQE related experience working in a diverse supply chain organization
  • Demonstrated use of Quality tools/methodologies such as: SPC, DOE, GR&R, FMEA, CAPA, 8D, complaint investigation, process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) and FDA, ISO/MDD standards, as well as Engineering towards production processes for electronics (e.g., IPC600, IPC610, IPC620)
  • Ability to oversee complex global initiatives and interact with internal peers and external suppliers to influence decisions, provide direction, and develop solutions in real time
  • Flexibility to travel up to 25% of the time, occasionally to Europe
