Job summary

SSRG Midwest in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Senior Structural Technician to lead field crews, translate drawings into action, and uphold safety, quality, and production standards.

You will own task planning, select crews and equipment, and work with minimal supervision to deliver complex field work that preserves historical structures and public safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4 years of field experience.
• OSHA 30 preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Willingness to travel.
• Willingness and ability to work all necessary shifts.
• Fluency in reading building plans and specifications.
• Ability to lead crews with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret building plans and specifications to guide field work accurately.
• Use construction hardware and software to support project planning.
• Select equipment, tools, and personnel and assemble crews for scopes of work.
• Set up access and shoring equipment (aerial lifts, swing stages, scaffolding).
• Operate skid steers, material handlers, and fork trucks per certification standards.
• Complete building layout with Superintendent assistance (corners, offsets, elevations).
• Cross-check layouts to prevent rework within contract scopes.
• Lead crews to deliver high-quality work safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Build

• Read and interpret building plans and specifications to guide field work accurately
• Use construction hardware and software to support overall project planning
• Select equipment, tools, and materials and assemble crews to execute assigned scopes of work
• Set up and erect access and shoring equipment, including aerial lifts, swing stages, scaffolding, and structural shoring
• Operate skid steers, material handlers, and fork trucks in accordance with company certification standards
• Complete building layout with Superintendent assistance, including corners, offsets, benchmarks, and elevations
• Cross-check and verify layout performed by others to prevent rework within contract and subcontract scopes
• Apply knowledge of material performance constraints in concrete, masonry, steel, and wood construction
• Lead crew members in completing high-level work with minimal supervision while meeting quality, safety, and production standards
• Set a professional example and support a crew environment where team members can do their best work

Qualifications: What You Bring

• Willingness to travel

• Fluency in reading building plans and specification
