NTH Consultants, Ltd. is a leading infrastructure engineering and environmental services firm based in Michigan.

We are seeking a senior Civil Engineer specialized in structural and geotechnical disciplines to lead complex dam and bridge projects, with regional travel to field sites. The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural/geotechnical engineering, a professional license, and 7+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Structural or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration required.
• Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in Structural or Geo-Structural Engineering.
• Experience in project planning, budgeting, and task management to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Extensive background in structural engineering, including dam design, rehabilitation, and related codes and practices.

• Perform structural and geotechnical analysis, design, and documentation for projects with interdisciplinary teams.
• Develop or review project-specific design and calculation packages, including construction cost estimates.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Perform structural and geotechnical analysis, design, and documentation for projects involving interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include research, system selection, analysis, and preparation of drawings and specifications in compliance with industry standards.
• Develop or review project-specific design and calculation packages, including construction cost estimates.
• Supervise or perform monitoring of construction operations, including structural rehabilitation and earthwork / excavation support installations and preparing engineering field reports. Coordinate construction quality control services, conduct periodic site visits, and review daily field reports prepared by others.
• Prepare technical proposals and fee estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis on Structural or Geotechnical Engineering), from a 4-year accredited college or university. Master’s degree related to Structural or Geotechnical Engineering is desirable.
• Professional registration required.
• Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in Structural Engineering or Geo-Structural Engineering.
• Experience in project planning, budgeting, and task management to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Extensive background in structural engineering, with specialized experience in dam design, structural analysis, and dam rehabilitation. Strong knowledge and understanding of structural engineering principles, structural and geotechnical design principles, embankment and concrete dam behavior, seepage, stability, spillway and outlet works considerations, and applicable codes, standards, and dam safety practices. Experience in soil-structure interaction and in conducting structural and geotechnical analysis and design calculations for aboveground and underground structures. Experience with design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of dams and related hydraulic structures is required.
• Experience with bridge design and rehabilitation in Michigan is desirable.
• Proficient in using structural and geotechnical analysis/design software(s).
• Experience in preparing and reviewing engineering evaluation reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
