Job summary

GFT, based in Miami, seeks a Sr. Structural Project Engineer to join our Buildings and Places Structural Team.

You will perform design and analysis, develop construction documents, and contribute to project reviews with a focus on quality and sustainable solutions for diverse facilities. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of structural engineering, a PE license, and hands-on use of RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Concept, STAAD, and REVIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering is required.
• PE license is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a structural design engineer on buildings, transit, or related projects.
• Familiarity with common structural analysis and design software (RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Concept, STAAD, REVIT).

Responsibilities

• Perform and check structural design and analysis computations.
• Prepare construction plans for various buildings and structures.
• Develop contract documents including plans, details, and specifications.
• Perform structural calculations per Building Code and amendments.
• Review construction documents such as shop drawings.
• Perform structural observations on site.
• Prepare reports with clear, succinct writing.
• Provide technical guidance to entry level engineers.

Our team contributes to a resilient and sustainable built environment, pushing the boundaries of building system design and optimizing performance while addressing the unique needs of each facility.GFT supports heavy construction projects that require unique problem solving, design of specialized equipment, and development of complex phasing. We also provide traditional design services for buildings, transit stations, industrial facilities, tunnels, water/wastewater facilities, and dam structures. Our structural engineers deliver value through innovative solutions and quality designs, utilizing building information modeling for collaboration through design and construction.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Perform and check structural design and analysis computations.


• Prepare construction plans for a wide variety of building/vertical structures.


• Develop contract documents such as plans, details and specifications.


• Perform structural calculations in accordance with the Building Code and authority having jurisdiction amendments to Building Code.


• Review construction documents such as shop drawings or contractor requests


• Perform structural observations on site for existing and new structures.


• Prepare summary and detailed reports using clear and succinct writing.


• Provide technical guidance to entry level engineers.


• Perform finite element modelling.


• Detail-oriented with strong skills in steel and concrete design.


• Diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to structural analysis and design.


• Diversified knowledge of building codes, technology, material codes, materials, equipment, design concepts and construction techniques.


• Organized, self-starter with ability to multi-task and modify priorities based on client request and workload.

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering is required


• PE required.


• Minimum of 10 years of experience working as a structural design engineer on buildings, , and/or transit related projects


• Familiarity with RISA, ETABS, SAP2000,RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, TEDDS and/or other structural engineering analysis and design related software.


• Experience with REVIT.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
