Job summary

Solstice Advanced Materials in Houston seeks a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead category strategies for MRO, HSE, Facilities, Energy, and Industrial Gases. You will own supplier relationships, contract management, and risk mitigation to ensure cost competitiveness and supply continuity.

You will partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, EHS, Legal, and Finance, delivering cost savings, productivity improvements, and working capital optimization. Hybrid work at multiple sites is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 7-12 years of progressive strategic sourcing or procurement experience.
  • Experience leading RFx events, negotiations, and multi-site sourcing.

Position Summary

The Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of sourcing strategies for MRO goods and services, HSE, Facilities Management, Energy, and Industrial Gases. This role owns category strategies, supplier relationships, and contract management to ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, risk mitigation, and compliance with quality, regulatory, ESG, and safety requirements. The position is accountable for delivering cost savings, productivity improvements, working capital optimization, supplier performance, and supply continuity objectives across assigned categories. The Sr. Manager partners closely with Operations, R&D, Quality, EHS, Legal, and Finance and provides leadership, coaching, and guidance to procurement professionals supporting assigned categories.

Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Value Creation

  • Develop and execute multi-year category strategies in partnership with site leadership, maintenance, engineering, operations, EHS, and finance teams to align procurement initiatives with business objectives.
  • Lead spend visibility, demand management and consumption optimization initiatives.
  • Drive cost reduction, productivity, value engineering, supplier collaboration, and demand optimization initiatives that improve total cost of ownership (TCO) and achieve annual savings commitments.
  • Drive working capital improvement opportunities through payment term optimization and inventory management strategies.
  • Analyze global supply markets, cost structures, and risk profiles to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Drive adoption of preferred suppliers, contracts, and procurement best practices across manufacturing locations.
  • Develop category roadmaps and governance frameworks that align sourcing activities across multiple manufacturing sites and business functions.
  • Lead RFx processes, commercial negotiations, and supplier selection decisions for strategically important categories.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, including pricing mechanisms, service levels, allocation terms, and risk-sharing provisions.
  • Establish supplier governance programs, executive business reviews, and continuous improvement plans for strategic suppliers.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews and corrective action programs to improve quality, service, innovation, and cost competitiveness.
  • Partner with suppliers to identify innovation opportunities that improve operational performance, sustainability, reliability, and total cost of ownership.

Risk Management & Supply Resilience

  • Proactively assess and mitigate supply risks, including capacity constraints, regulatory exposure, geopolitical risk, and single-source dependencies.
  • Lead supplier, product, and service standardization initiatives across multiple sites to reduce complexity and leverage enterprise scale.
  • Drive supplier consolidation strategies while balancing risk, service, and total cost of ownership.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans, dual-sourcing strategies, and inventory risk mitigation approaches.
  • Lead sourcing response efforts during supply disruptions and business continuity events.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment on supplier selection, standardization initiatives, specifications, and sourcing decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to Operations, Planning, R&D, Quality, EHS, Finance, and Legal.
  • Maintain deep market expertise in assigned categories, including commodity trends, emerging technologies, alternative business models, and supplier innovation.
  • Provide market intelligence and sourcing recommendations to business stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Provide governance and guidance to Buyers and Strategic Sourcing Specialists on execution against sourcing strategies.
  • Lead change management initiatives that improve procurement maturity, compliance, and adoption of strategic sourcing practices.
  • Influence stakeholders to transition from decentralized purchasing approaches toward enterprise sourcing strategies.
  • Communicate sourcing strategies, risks, and performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with internal procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing effectiveness, spend visibility, data quality, reporting accuracy, and supplier data governance.
  • Champion adoption of digital procurement tools and best practices in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management.

Compliance, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with internal procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing effectiveness, spend visibility, data quality, reporting accuracy, and supplier data governance.
  • Champion adoption of digital procurement tools and best practices in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Support ESG, sustainability, and responsible sourcing initiatives across assigned categories.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-12 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably within specialty chemicals, materials, or regulated manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success in category strategy development, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience leading complex RFx events, commercial negotiations, and multi-site sourcing initiatives.
  • Experience managing supply risk in complex, global supply markets.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial, refining, or other asset-intensive operating environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing one or more of the following categories: MRO, Facilities Management, Industrial Gases, Utilities, Energy, Environmental Services, Real Estate, PPE, or other manufacturing support services.
  • Experience leading or mentoring procurement professionals.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CIPS.
  • Experience with ERP and e-sourcing tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Coupa).

PAY RANGE

The annual base salary range for this position is $164,613-205,766. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Solstice considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
