Job description

We are currently hiring a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Lead, CAPEX and Facilities inBreinigsville, PA.

The Procurement Senior Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for formulating, communicating, and executing category management and strategic sourcing strategies designed to enable commercial growth and profitability for the Boston Beer Company. This individual will establish and implement best sourcing practices by applying spend analysis, supply market expertise, and eSourcing tools to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) when executing developed strategies. Additionally, the individual will proactively and consistently manage key suppliers’ strategic and operational relationships for assigned categories and partner with internal stakeholders and sourcing team colleagues to implement innovative projects, drive efficiencies, deliver supplier quality improvements, and reduce risks while improving costs.

*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams’ weekly schedule.

What You'll Brew:

Category Management

  • Analyzes industry trends and evolving technology to identify supply base proactively issues to minimize risk, protect the continuity of supply, and leverage strategic opportunities
  • Responsible for building and maintaining the 9 steps of category strategy based on comprehensive market research and a clear definition of company requirements to drive continuous improvement in categories
  • Proactively develops and maintains expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations
  • Proven track record of proactively establishing metrics, processes, and procedures to ensure service, performance, and pricing are optimized by our suppliers
  • Leads recurring business stakeholder meetings, providing updates on service and supply
  • Service Level Agreement (SLA) attainment
  • Proactively identifies, tracks, and reports regularly on cost savings opportunities and validation of savings achieved to date and associated future projections
  • Oversees, plans, manages, and assumes complete responsibility for all activities and processes associated with the categories assigned

Strategic Sourcing

  • Proven track record of proactively formulating sourcing strategies by applying market analysis, supplier diversity best practices, benchmarking, and negotiation balance of power assessments to maximize competition
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to draft Statements of Work (SOWs) and apply competitive bid processes executing sourcing events (RFI, RFQ, RFP) with minimal supervision
  • Collects, manages, and analyzes historical spending data to create a company-aggregated view when designing, leading, and implementing RFx’s events utilizing eSourcing tools
  • Proven track record of proactively leading the development and execution of sourcing and negotiation strategies; responsible for Total Cost of Ownership and final contract negotiations, ensuring legal and business partner engagement and appropriate levels of management approval

Supplier Relationship Management

  • As the primary contact for supplier issues for the assigned category, addresses corrective action requests and resolves supplier disputes to ensure the highest level of service delivery
  • Proactively and consistently drives and manages strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Led supplier business reviews, partnering with internal stakeholders to define and track
  • KPIs and SLAs to drive continuous improvement
  • As a role model for supplier management, drives a continuous improvement mindset for improved performance in quality, service, and cost
  • Tracks and reports on supplier service delivery through Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Contract Management

  • Maintains contractual and business relationships with suppliers
  • Responsible for document archiving and actively working with the legal department on contract reviews to ensure supplier adherence to all commercial and legal terms
  • Works independently managing all Master Service Agreements (MSAs) within assigned categories as well as agreement amendments leveraging BBC’s contract management tool

Operational Procurement

  • Consistently communicates and ensures compliance with BBC’s procurement policies and procedures
  • As project manager, leads cross-functional teams implementing new systems and processes to gain consensus and deliver innovative efficiencies while mitigating risks
  • Consistently champions process, system, and policy improvements representing procurement to cross-functional colleagues, communicating change initiatives, and associated benefits
  • Leads in recurring business stakeholder meetings, providing updates on service and supply SLA attainment, cost savings, and upcoming business needs
  • Creates and manages Purchase Orders as needed to ensure timely and cost-effective Acquisitions

Other Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and shares strategic drivers and activities that support key priorities, both within assigned categories as well as across the organization
  • Supports after-hour activities required during a crisis or emergency

Experience

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience in category management, sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management, risk management, and/or project management experience

Level: 5

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $85,800 and $135,000. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset, and location.Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
