Job Overview

Optum, a global organization dedicated to delivering care through technology, is seeking a Senior Strategic Account Executive (SAE). This role involves managing pharmacy benefit management activities, building relationships, contract negotiations, reporting, and financial management. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage all aspects of client relationships, supporting sales and growth initiatives including marketing, new products, and integrated programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned accounts focusing on client trends, strategic planning, and relationship building across multiple levels.
  • Lead client contract renewals, aiming for multi-year agreements and profitability.
  • Oversee financial guarantees, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Understand and demonstrate mastery of client business objectives, industry trends, and program value.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and drive closure.
  • Develop relationships at various client levels and with external partners.
  • Coordinate performance reviews, cost analysis, and industry updates with clients.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review benefits, utilization, and trends.
  • Support and mentor team members and provide feedback to management.
Qualifications
Required:
  • 5+ years in client or account management.
  • 2+ years experience with Medicare, Exchange, and PBM industries.
  • Proven ability to deliver business reviews and communicate value.
  • Experience in cross-selling and upselling.
  • Strong professionalism and leadership qualities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Health Plans.
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
Additional Details

The salary range is $106,800 to $194,200 annually, based on experience and location. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentives, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions. This position offers remote flexibility within the U.S.
