Northrop Grumman’s Defense Sector, Weapon Systems Division is looking for a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to support the Stand in Attack Weapon (SiAW) Program. As a member of the Software Test team, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment as the go between person for the Software function and the Systems function. We need a Systems Engineer with a strong embedded software background. Candidates will be responsible for analyzing, developing requirements and specifications with various stakeholders from the software IPT and managing the system. Candidate will be expected to interface and brief: System Engineering IPT lead, Chief Engineers, and Program Management.

The selected candidate will be required to work on-site in Northridge, CA; Linthicum, MD; or Tucson, AZ. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position. Salaries for each location listed at the bottom.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight and cross-coordination of activities between several technical teams and disciplines, including Systems, Software, Programmable Logic, and Integration and Test
  • Experience in systems engineering including requirements development, requirements analysis, requirements allocation, system design, software design, software implementation, software testing, system integration, field integration testing, and requirements verification.
  • Responsible for keeping management informed with current status, challenges, and required planning for key deadlines and milestones.
  • Work with other programs and multiple disciplines to identify design and technical constraints inherited from other programs.
  • Develop test cases to support integration test activities and aid with early identification of required test assets and equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of requirements for system architecture development and systems integration

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Staff Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with (14) years of relative experience and (4) years of requirement/verification experience; will consider MS in Engineering and (12) years of systems/software engineering with (4) years of equipment/verification experience
  • Experience in the defense industry and design in an aerospace environment
  • Have technical experience on one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry/communication, flight termination system, power/battery, airframe
  • Experience with system/subsystem/software/hardware integration, test, and verification
  • Ability to work without appreciable direction, exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment with the understanding of relatively long- term perspective, for desired result
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as IBM Rationale DOORS, Cameo, Rhapsody
  • Expert in Embedded Software, and ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience in Missile/Weapon development/sustainment programs
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Staff Systems Engineer:

  • Experience with military in aircraft weapons release systems or weapon systems
  • Prior experience working in an AS9100 environment
  • Previous experience in digital engineering tools such as Agile and JIRA

Linthicum, MD Salary: 179,600.00 - 269,400.00

Tucson, Az Salary: 162,500.00 - 243,700.00

Salary Range: $162,500.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
