Job description

We welcome all curious engineers, solution-oriented thinkers, innovative persons who are looking for a place to do their best work on automotive projects!

What You Will Do

  • Early-stage analysis and evaluations of functional safety architectures used in both conventional emergency shut down systems and highly available systems. Evaluate the suitability of the specific technology to meet customers and MediaTek objectives from an engineering standpoint. Work with all kinds of relevant suppliers to arrive at the information needed to make informed judgements.
  • Participate with technical marketing departments, advanced technology management and development engineering to establish project goals and requirements related to system safety activities.
  • Elaborate, design, and imagine conventional and innovative functional safety concepts for future generation product capabilities. This includes advanced deep technical analysis of reliability metrics, failure modes identification, diagnostic coverages techniques, dependent failure analysis and architectural system evaluations with the objective to determine the feasibility of different solutions to meet targets established by international standards and customer expectations.
  • Capability to expose technical solutions to diverse auditors from peers, technical and business customers, and suppliers, and to upper MediaTek management; this also includes the capability to present strong argumentation to certifying agencies.
  • Develop architectural designs at the whole scope of the application, including vehicle level features, vehicle architectures down to IPs micro architectures. Communicate and coordinate safety designs with IP teams. Consider tradeoffs between requirements, time to market, cost, and quality. Provide workload estimation and skills needed to accomplish the milestone.
  • Maintain technical expertise in the field. Create and maintain relationships with educational institutions worldwide, professional societies (SAE, VDA, SIA, IEEE, etc.) and technical publications. Maintain awareness of applicable new technologies, processes, and trends.
  • Function as a point of reference for functional/system safety expertise in a specific domain. Consult across multiple teams. Assist as requested with problem resolution, product design reviews, and technical strategy analysis and development.
  • Understand complex control system concepts and contribute to the development and implementation of the product strategic direction in functional safety/system safety.
  • Conduct tasks following applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, etc.) as well as MediaTek policies and procedures.
  • Intimate understanding of at least 2 or more Functional Safety/System Safety standards such as: ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO PAS 21448 SOTIF, UL 4600, IEC 61511, EN 5012x, ISO 10218, IEC 62061, IEC 60601.
  • Demonstrate understanding of vehicle dynamics.
  • You will report to MediaTek’s SoC Functional Safety Director.
